  • Because NOAC is being hosted by University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign this year, we decided to theme our patch design around St. Louis. The middle of the patch features St. Louis’ greatest attraction, the Gateway Arch, in purple. Surrounding it are different flower species, including Hawthorne flowers, the Missouri state flower, and two irises, the St. Louis city flower. The flowers are positioned on a vine stretching three ways- imitating the St. Louis city flag that represents the two rivers coming together. The leaves on the flag are the shape of the St. Louis city map, tying in another geographical element of the city. The patch has a tetradic color scheme, featuring two pairs of complementary colors: purple and yellow, and green and red. For the basic patch, the border will be brown. There will also be an exclusive patch with a shiny purple border, which will nicely complement the color scheme of the design and make it more enticing to purchase.
